Blogmas Day 9: Wednesday Wonders Pt:2

Another Wednesday another Wednesday Wonders. If you’re not sure what that is you can check out last week’s post here. In brief, on Wednesday’s I’m sharing about myself through a tag or a Q+A. Since it’s Blogmas all of the tags will be holiday themed! Wednesday’s are my favorite because I like sharing. Sometimes I overshare but in general I like, average share.

Here we go!

  1. As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?

Short answer, all the time. For some reason, my younger sister always received the fun gifts I wanted. My parent’s always got our gifts spot on and my grandparents never missed a beat but family friends treated me like a teenage girl by the time I was 10 so, while my sister got doll’s or leggos I got nail polish and journals. Now, I’m not complaining- I love nail polish and journals but sometimes a girl just wants to put stuff together and play with dolls! There was more than one occasion the my sister’s gifts went “missing”. It’s okay, now my clothes go “missing” all the time.

2. Sing a line from your favourite Christmas song.

“But just in case I stand one little chance. Here comes the jackpot question in advance. What are you doing New Years, New Year’s Eve.” – What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve by Ella Fitzgerald.

I don’t know why this counts as a Christmas Song but it was on her Christmas album and I will probably always play it for Christmas now that I know it exists.

3. When do you start getting excited about Christmas?

I typically get excited about Christmas the day after Halloween. Seriously, we will start playing Christmas music the moment we leave the pumpkin patch. This year was a little bit different. It’s been an intense year and I’m working on creating my own Christmas Cheer. This year I am still actively getting excited. Instead of a constant stream of Hallelujah YAY Christmas, I’m having small spurts of YES Christmas! They are getting me through.

4. Do you use advent calendars?

I’ve gotta be honest, I need to look that up. I’ve seen them but they make absolutely no sense to me. Some of them have 12 days, others have 25 days. I don’t understand.

*pauses to Google ‘Advent Calendar’*

Okay, so it’s supposed to be a Christmas Countdown. I don’t. I don’t use them, but lord-willing one day brands will just send me Advent Calendars. I’ll use those. I see the appeal though! A gift every day, it seems to make finding Christmas Cheer easy.

5. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I used to make New Year’s Resolutions every year. I thought it was the thing to do then one day I heard a pastor preach a sermon about how we should resolve every day to be better than we were the day before. So, I took that on for a while. Now a days it’s somewhere between a vision board and writing out my goals quarterly.

As far as sticking to them goes, I am trying my very best!

What about you?

Love always,

J
